Café 13 Indoor Bocce League

We have the only indoor bocce courts in Manitoba. Our outdoor league started on June 10, 2024. Teams typically have 6 or more players but only 4 can play in any one game.

We have two divisions with Division A made up of teams that have a more competitive spirit and Division B is made up of teams that are just out to have fun.

Matches start at 7:30 PM weeknights. Each team plays two games per match and the first team to reach 12 points wins a game and earns a point in the standings. Monetary prizes are awarded to the top two teams in each division.

Please note:  You must wear indoor shoes on the indoor courts.

How to play Bocce?
Bocce is played with a set of 8 bocce balls, a small ball called a 'pallina' and two teams of up to 4 players. Each team plays with 4 bocce balls of the same colour.

A coin is tossed to determine who throws the pallina to start the game. The winning team throws the pallina then throws their first ball as close as possible to the pallina. The other team throws a ball – trying to get their ball closer to the pallina than their opposition. If they do, then the first team throws a ball – hoping to get it closer to the pallina, or they can try to knock out the opposition’s ball. If they don’t, the second team continues to roll until all their balls are thrown, or one of their balls lands closer to the pallina than the opposing team.

A frame is complete when all the balls and thrown. A team can get up to 4 points in a frame if they land all their balls closer to the pallina than the opposing team.

The first team to reach 12 points wins the game!
